Christmas is a wonderful time of year for a wedding. As friends & family gather to celebrate the season there can be no better atmosphere than one of festive spirit! So if you are planning a Christmas wedding, here are some ideas for your wedding favors – of the edible variety!

· Mince Pies

· Jars of homemade mincemeat

· Miniature Christmas puddings

· Miniature Christmas cakes

· Gingerbread

· Cinnamon biscuits

· Sachets of mulled wine spice

· Bottles of mulled wine

· Marzipan fruits

· Christmas cookies

· Stollen

· Panettone

· Jars of cranberry sauce or relish

· Liquor chocolates

· Chocolate coated marzipan

· Candy canes

· Spiced fruit breads

· Jars of poached fruits such as pears or peaches

· Brandy snaps

· Chocolate bon bons

· Pecan tarts

· Plum pudding

· Cranberry & orange preserve

· Miniature yule logs

I would strongly recommend you have a go at making some of these yourself. Most are very simple to make & you will probably be making some for yourselves to eat over the Christmas period anyway.

Why not put together mini Christmas hampers with a selection of foods such as cookies & chocolates, presented in a gable box tied with ribbon.

Another alternative & one which may appeal to those who don’t fancy much cooking or baking is to give out festive recipes instead. You could put together a Christmas cook book or give out scroll style recipes for different dishes or even menus.

Here are some ideas on what you could include:

· A traditional Christmas dinner

· Christmas pudding recipe

· Festive drinks such as mulled wine & egg nog

· Cookie recipes

· Christmas cake recipe

· A boxing day feast

· What do with leftovers

· Mincemeat recipe

· How to make a gingerbread house

· Baked decorations for the Christmas tree

· A Christmas eve menu

· Christmas appetizers

· Stollen recipe

Christmas is a time when we love to indulge ourselves with luxurious foods & fine treats. This period more than any other time of the year we love to feast on traditional foods, the majority of which have been homemade following on from generations of tradition. How many of us bake Granny’s Christmas cake or follow Great Auntie’s Christmas pudding recipe. So in terms of wedding favors these recipes are perfect for sharing with your friends & family.
